DR. JOHN MCGAW
Dr. John McGaw, EMT-P, B.Sc., DDS
Dr. McGaw has practiced sedation dentistry since 1994. Registered to provide sedation dentistry by the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, he is also an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor and Clinical Instructor in IV Sedation at the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
A graduate of the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. McGaw is a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Co-Founder of the IV Sedation program at the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, a former board member of the Accreditation Committee for sedation with the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, and, through university, Dr. McGaw practiced as a Level III Registered Emergency Paramedic for the City of Edmonton.
Dr. McGaw utilizes leading edge dental care technology to identify and treat problems with minimal invasion and maximum comfort. He administers sedation for various procedures including: Implants, Implant assisted dentures;, Pedodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery (impacted wisdom teeth), Endodontics, Crown and Bridge and for thorough hygiene appointments. Dr. McGaw also provides IV sedation for ASA I and ASA II patients including children over 12 years of age.
Dr. McGaw and his Registered Nurse provide continuous patient monitoring during a sedation procedure. His practice is equipped with all the necessary professional medial equipment for comprehensive cardio respiratory resuscitation including a defibrillator with cardiac pacing capabilities, a pulse oximeter, non invasive blood pressure machine and a full crash cart capable of dealing with any medical emergency.
